President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov and Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin signed an additional agreement on cooperation between the company and the region for 2021 at the meeting held today in Astrakhan.

LUKOIL will fund landscaping of the Zelenaya riverbank in the Kharabalinsky district, construction of an outdoors sports and recreation centre in the Ikryaninsky district and outfitting of the training grounds of the Oil and Gas Institute of Astrakhan State Technical University. The company will also continue to support the Zarya Kaspiya handball-training centre, as well as hold LUKOIL's Social and Cultural Projects Competition in the region.

Under the cooperation agreement that has been in force since 2015, LUKOIL helped to carry out a number of social projects aimed at the region's development. For example, Astrakhan saw renovation of Victory Boulevard, construction of the Triumphal Arch, landscaping of the Alley of Glory and the area around the Swan Lake. Central Square in the Limansky district was fully renovated, while its Culture and Leisure Centre and the Yubileyny movie theatre underwent a complete overhaul. The Ikryaninsky district received a recreation area with a renovated community centre and a modern sports complex. The Kharabalinsky district got a Children's Activity Centre and a modern athletic field.

During his trip to Astrakhan, Vagit Alekperov visited the new office of LUKOIL-Nizhnevolzhskneft LLC (a wholly owned PJSC "LUKOIL" subsidiary), examined the exhibition of its corporate museum and held a video conference with employees of the Vladimir Filanovsky and Yury Korchagin fields.
