LUKOIL AND RUSSIA’S MINISTRY FOR EMERGENCIES SINGED COOPERATION AGREEMENT ON EMERGENCY SITUATIONS PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Today in Moscow Ravil Maganov, LUKOIL Fist Vice President, and Yuriy Vorobyev, Fist Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM) signed a cooperation agreement between the Company and the Ministry on fire safety, prevention and control of emergency situations caused by accidental oil and oil product spills.

In accordance with the signed document the main cooperation areas of the Parties are the following:

- to provide interaction between EMERCOM and LUKOIL during fire suppression, as well as prevention and control of emergency situations caused by accidental oil and oil product spills;

- to coordinate plans, programs and other activities of the Parties in terms of reasonable allocation of resources and means to extinguish fire and eliminate emergencies of territorial, regional and federal response levels;

- to improve interaction of the Parties while eliminating transborder emergencies caused by accidental offshore oil discharges;

- to conduct design engineering and research & development work.

“Our Company has always paid particular attention to emergency control and readiness to eliminate emergency situations. We are proud to note that we are witnessing a steady trend which has been underway since 1999: thanks to efficient cooperation between EMERCOM departments and the LUKOIL Group, the number of fires and damage caused by them is evidently decreasing. The cooperation agreement between LUKOIL and EMERCOM will allow not only the Company sites, but also the communities of Company operation to reach a new quality level of security”, Ravil Maganov, LUKOIL Fist Vice President, said.

LUKOIL allocates over 5 bln. rubles to finance emergency protection activities annually. Over 2.5 thousand EMERCOM fire prevention employees ensure fire protection of the LUKOIL Group.
