LUKOIL started its operations in St. Petersburg in 1993. Its main operating activity in St. Petersburg is petroleum product marketing.
LUKOIL takes an active part in the social and economic development of the city, is a regular St. Petersburg Economic Forum participant, and member of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Industry and Trade, as well as of the North-West Strategic Partnership non-profit association founded by the RF's constituent entities making part of the Northwestern Federal District. The partnership is intended to ensure interaction between state authorities, business and public organizations when developing and implementing the social and economic policy in Russia's North West.
The inauguration ceremony for the LUKOIL Group’s office center was held in St. Petersburg and was attended by the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko and PJSC LUKOIL’s President Vagit Alekperov. LUKOIL in St. Petersburg.
Environmental protection and conservation has always been an important priority for LUKOIL and its subsidiaries.
To ensure environmental safety and minimize the risks of accidental petroleum product spills at its production facilities, the Company uses the most cutting-edge technologies and equipment, organizes regular trainings for its employees, develops plans to prevent and respond to emergencies, conducts drills jointly with Russia's EMERCOM and other specialized organizations. Air, soil and water are continuously monitored at all LUKOIL's facilities.
The Company actively supports public environmental events. In 2015-2016, LUKOIL partnered with the International "Ecology" Forum as part of the "United Russia" party project "St. Petersburg is the maritime capital of Russia". The Company, jointly with the Russian Society for Nature Conservation, planted an alley of 20 maple trees along the city's Morskoy Prospekt, and in May 2016, it donated rare species of plants to the collection of the local Botanical Garden. As part of the national volunteer clean-up day "Green Russia", the Company's employees helped clean the territory of the Yuntolovsky wildlife sansctuary.
LUKOIL contributes to the social and economic development of the regions it operates in.
The Company also supports orphanages, educational institutions, societies for the disabled, veterans and low-income citizens. LUKOIL's funds are allocated to the purchase of equipment, furniture and accessories, celebrations of festive occasions such as Defender of the Country's Day, Victory Day, Children's Day and Knowledge Day.
LUKOIL is an honorary member of the State Russian Museum's Society of Friends and provides annual support to its exhibitions. It also runs joint projects together with St. Isaac's Cathedral and partners with the St. Petersburg Christmas Fair.
The Company provided financial support for the restoration and beautification of St. Peter and Paul's Church of the Russian Orthodox Church's St. Petersburg diocese in Sestroretsk.
In the healthcare field, the Company has a tradition of supporting the Gennady Romanov Children's Rehabilitation Center that uses unique proprietary treatment methods.
Over more than a decade, the Company has been a patron of Orphanage #31 of St. Petersburg's Moskovsky district.
The Company has provided support to various local sports organizations and allocated funds to promote a healthy lifestyle. Another priority area is children's sport: for a number of years the Company has supported the SKA-St. Petersburg children's sports school.
