MEMORIAL TO THE SOVIET SOLDIER OPENS NEAR RZHEV WITH LUKOIL’S SUPPORT

Today, the municipality of Rzhev in Tver region hosted the unveiling of the Memorial to the Soviet Soldier that was constructed with LUKOIL's support. It is one of the key events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The memorial has the form of a 25 meters high bronze soldier figure installed on a 10 meters high artificial hill. This design was chosen in an international creative competition.
The monument commemorates the warriors who took down Hitler's Army Group Center. Their defensive and offensive operations led to a pivotal moment when the Red Army gained an advantage on the entire Soviet-German frontline.
The unveiling of the memorial coincides with a full-scale launch of the LUKOIL fuel station located in the immediate vicinity.
The front of the new fuel station is decorated with images of cranes. These birds symbolize souls of the soldiers who gave their lives for their country during the Great Patriotic War.
