The Company’s
and its subsidiaries’ participation in the revival of religious traditions and
spiritual culture has become an integral part of the Company’s charity
activities. At the same time, OAO LUKOIL considers sponsorship of the social
service facilities its key priority.
The Company is a participant of the program aimed at supporting
the restoration and reconstruction of Vvedensky Monastery Optina Pustyn, and is
allocating significant funds for construction of the town church of the
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and the chapel temple of Three Prelates. The
Company is supporting construction of churches in honor of the Grand Prince St. Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles in Sochi and Korenovsk. The
Company allocated funds to purchase equipment for classrooms of the All-Church Post-Graduate School and Doctoral Candidacy Institution
named after St. Cyril and St. Methodius, Equal-to-the-Apostles. It’s been a
number of years since the Company started sponsoring the restoration of
Saint-Trinity Church Parish in Nizhniye Mully settlement, Perm Krai, and
Belogorsk Saint-Nicholas Orthodox Missionary Monastery located in Kungur
District, Perm Krai.
Assistance was provided to the Central Religious Board of
Muslims of Russia.
The
Company’s subsidiaries are also taking an active part in the revival and
development of the country’s spiritual and religious centers. The Company’s
regional production units in Volgograd Oblast provide support to the Church of Archangel Michael and to Constantine and
Elena’s Church. In Kaliningrad Oblast support is provided to the Church of the
Icon of the Mother of God, in Perm Krai – to Epiphany Monastery, Assumption
Convent, and to the Monastery for Saint Regal Martyrs.
The
Company supports Russian Orthodox churches located outside of Russia. OAO LUKOIL
took part in the restoration of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the
Savior in Odessa, and in the restoration of
Marine Cathedral and the Myrrh-bearers
Church in Baku. In addition, OAO
LUKOIL provided assistance in reconstruction of Kipriyanovsky monastery and the
monastery in Kurki in Moldova, St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York, St. Nicholas Cathedral in Vienna, St. Nicholas the Miracle-Worker Cathedral in
Bobruisk, and Assumption Cathedral in Budapest. The Company
funded the renewal and restoration of the Orthodox Cemetery of the Holy Martyr St. George the
Victory-Bearer in Cairo.
