Education Programs

The Company’s priority is to take care of the rising generation and
train young talent pool for the Russian oil industry. LUKOIL sponsors numerous
higher education institutions providing training to oil and gas specialists,
including I.M.Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, St. Petersburg
State Mining Institute, Perm State Technical University, Ukhta State Technical
University, Tyumen State Oil and Gas University, Ufa Petroleum Technical
University, Volgograd State University, Volgograd State Technical University,
Astrakhan State Technical University, Arkhangelsk State Technical University,
Moscow’s M.V. Lomonosov Institute of High Chemical Technology, Russian
D.M.Mendeleev University of
Chemical Technology and Moscow Physics and Technology Institute, and G. V.
Plekhanov Saint Petersburg State Mining Institute.
In addition to specialized higher education institutions, the
Company sponsors the National Research University, the Higher School of
Economics, Finance University under the Government of the Russian Federation,
Volzhsky branch of the Moscow Energy Institute, Rostov State University of
Communication Lines, Moscow State Social Humanitarian Institute, as well as
secondary education technical institutions, including Kstovo Oil Vocational
School, Budennovsk Regional Polytechnical College and Moscow Gymnasium No.
45.
The Company
supports specialized educational establishments in the CIS countries. One of
them is the Azerbaijan State Oil
Academy.
Scholarship Programs
Starting 2000, the Company established personal scholarships for the
most gifted university students from oil and gas universities and institutes. In
2011 around 200 students from different cities across the country received
LUKOIL’s corporate monthly scholarships of 2,500 or 3,000 rubles each. From 2007 to 2011 scholarships in the
amount of 20.5 million RUR have been disbursed, including 3.2 million RUR in
2007, 3.6 million RUR in 2008, 3.5 million RUR in 2009, 5.1 million RUR in 2010,
and 5.1 million RUR in 2011.
Teachers help retain the scientific knowledge
Around ninety gifted young teachers from the country’s leading oil
universities and other universities and institutes receive personal grants as
part of the grants program to support young teachers. From 2007 to 2011 grants
in the amount of 36 million RUR have been disbursed, including 5.5 million RUR
in 2007, 7.6 million RUR in 2008, 4.3 million RUR in 2009, 11.3 million RUR in
2010, and 7.7 million RUR in 2011.
Development of Higher Education Institutions’ Facilities and
Equipment

The Company’s support to higher education institutions focusing on
the improvement of their facilities, equipment and teaching aids makes it
possible to have a state-of-the-art academic process. The Company helps purchase
scientific equipment for laboratories. For example, between 2008 and 2011
considerable funds were allocated for the development of facilities and
equipment and renovation of the premises of the Tyumen State Oil and Gas
University, the Ukhta State Technical University, the Ufa State Oil Technical
University, the Perm State Technical University, Russian I.M. Gubkin Oil and Gas
State University, and the Volzhsky branch of the Moscow Energy Institute.
One of the priority focus areas of the Company’s activities aimed
at improving the academic process is to provide support in making up-to-date
academic books available to the students. Thus, a few years ago the Company
sponsored publication of new textbooks for I.M. Gubkin RSU of Oil and Gas, and
Tyumen State Oil and Gas University.
