Environmental Safety Program is a key tool for the strategic planning of environmental activities.
The environmental safety program constitutes a set of research, production, social, economic, organizational, household and other measures, which are well balanced in terms of the resources, responsible parties and implementation terms, while the above measures are aimed at finding efficient solutions to the environmental safety tasks and at creating awareness among the stakeholders about the environmental measures taken by the LUKOIL Group organizations.
The Program sets the following priorities:
utilization of newly generated waste (the ratio of the waste disposed to the waste generated of at least 1:1);
utilization of “old (pre-privatization) damage”;
associated petroleum gas utilization rate of at least 95% by 2016; further improvement of the accounting system and reduced greenhouse gas emissions;
increase in Euro-5 compliant eco-friendly fuel production;
emergency prevention and preparedness for emergency response, reclamation of impaired and contaminated land plots;
introduction of automated industrial environmental monitoring systems;
to ensure that the level of environmental impact caused by the LUKOIL Group companies, including those operating outside of Russia, is compliant with the applicable requirements of the national and international laws.
The 2014—2018 Program provides for more than 600 measures with a total cost exceeding RUB 4 billion.
